What Janelle Tee learned during her reign as Miss Philippines Earth 2019

Miss Philippines Earth 2019 Janelle Tee has described her reign as imperfect but fruitful enough to make it worthwhile and memorable.

“My heart is full. I’m just really beyond grateful for such a fruitful year,” said Tee, during an exclusive online chat for the Manila Bulletin recently.

Tee crowned her successor in the first-ever “new normal” presentation of the Miss Philippines Earth 2020 beauty pageant last July 5.

“To the new winners, have the unrelenting can-do attitude to really fulfill the job of being Miss Philippines Earth,” said the Filipino-Chinese beauty queen when asked about her message to the present batch of winners.

Tee said that the grand coronation of MPE last July 5 served as her “graduation” from the pageantry. “Graduate na ako (sa pageantry). I will pursue other plans after and still continue my advocacies as well.”

Becoming a beauty queen taught her a lot of things, she said. “As Miss Philippines Earth 2019, I’ve learned to learn, unlearn and relearn. My journey isn’t perfect but it’s imperfectness makes it worthwhile and memorable.”

Tee said that representing the Philippines in the Miss Earth 2019 beauty pageant was one of the life-changing events that happened to her.

“The title comes with a responsibility. As Miss Philippines Earth 2019, I got the chance to be of service to my countrymen and Mother Earth through my platform. Life changing opportunities like having 84 sisters from all over the Earth when I represented our country. I represented our country, having true sisters through my elemental court…I would pass on my crown very soon, but the sisterhood remains forever,” said the beauty queen from Pasig City.

Before Tee competed in MPE, she was one of the co-hosts of Willie Revillame in the popular game show “Wowowin” on Kapuso network. She also co-hosted other programs on other networks.

Given another chance, Tee said that she would love to be a co-host of Revillame once again.

“I would always be grateful to him and I learned so much from him. He taught me how to connect to people, how to value work ethics and to give your best all the time in whatever you do and many, many more,” she added. (Robert R. Requintina)
