FROM a list of 106 countries, workers in the Philippines are seen receiving the lowest salary, according to a new study published by research and analyst company Picodi on August 20.

Rounding up the best and worst countries to live in based on the average wages earned in each country, Philippines placed 91st with a measly P15,200 average monthly pay.

The same report had Switzerland on top which pays the highest wages among the 106 countries surveyed. Swiss workers earn an average monthly wage of P296,200, followed by Luxembourg and the United States, whose citizens earn P198,500 and P174,800 respectively.

Filipinos, on the other hand, earn an average monthly wage P15,200, placed 95th, putting the Philippines in 91st place, outranking Tunisia (P14,700) and Egypt (P10,800).

“When it comes to Asian countries, the Philippines ended up in the second part of the ranking (12th out of 16). It was outperformed by Thailand (P30,600), India (P21,600), and Vietnam (P20,000),” the report reads.

Indonesia (P15,100), Sri Lanka (P12,800), Cambodia (P10,500), and Pakistan (P10,300) follow the Philippines at 92nd, 93rd, 94th, and 95th places, respectively. The Asia Pacific region is led by Singapore, Australia, and Hong Kong—the only countries with average wages higher than P140,000.

At the bottom of the list are Cuba, Uganda, and Nigeria, whose wages are between P1,800 and P9,100.
