In a bid to significantly improve air quality in Quezon City, local officials sealed a partnership with a global network of the world’s mega cities committed to address climate change.
After a thorough evaluation of 31 nominated cities, C40 Network hinted at supporting Quezon City to collaborate effectively, share knowledge and drive meaningful, measurable and sustainable action on climate change.
Quezon City is one of the two pilot cities chosen by C40 for its 2020-2021 C40 Air Quality Technical Assistance Programme.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Quezon City government and C40 top executives, both agreed on a collective effort seen to undertake the program aimed at significantly reducing air pollution in the pilot city, as stipulated under C40 Clean Air Cities Declaration.
Quezon City is among the most polluted cities in the National Capital Region.
In 2018, C40 launched a new Air Quality Network focused on helping cities develop and implement air quality policies and solutions in support of efforts to measure, understand and reduce air pollution to improve public health and meet climate goals.
