PBA player catches COVID-19, cage league not affected

BUBBLE does not seem a guarantee from the deadly virus from China as the country’s professional basketball league has admitted that a player from the Blackwater Elite team yielded positive for COVID-19 inside the bubble in Clark, Pampanga.

In a press briefing on Sunday, no less than Bases Conversion and Development Authority President and CEO Vince Dizon made the confirmation that one of the PBA cagers has been infected.

Oddly though, PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said that the league continues. However, the first game scheduled between teams Rain or Shine and Blackwater Elite, supposedly at 4 p.m. has been canceled.

Other matches will go on as scheduled.

Marcial said the whole Blackwater Elite team is already undergoing quarantine.
