FROM just 10 persons, Catholic churches may now allow more people to attend mass, said Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.

In a press briefing, Roque said that the government lifted the 10-person limit on religious gatherings in the National Capital Region (NCR). Religious services may now accommodate up to 10 percent of the venue’s capacity.

“Matutuwa po ang mga obispo natin,” Roque said.

Earlier, the government limited all gatherings to 10 persons after Metro Manila returned to general community quarantine on August 19, as a measure to prevent the further spread of COVID-19. President Rodrigo Duterte retained the GCQ classification for NCR this September.

Other establishments allowed to reopen in NCR subject to the discretion of the local government units include testing, tutorial and review centers; gyms, fitness centers and sports facilities; dermatological clinics offering aesthetic procedures; other personal care services; pet grooming services; and drive-in cinemas.

“Ang LGUs din po ang magbibigay ng specific guidelines para sa gyms, fitness centers, internet cafes, sports facilities. Kasama na po diyan ang additional health protocols, operational capacity at operating hours,” Roque said.

LGUs in Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal also have the discretion to come up with rules on the reopening of internet cafes, Roque said.
