THE new Philippine National Police hinted on changes that would only embark on filling up vacancies, and not a major revamp in the organization as it has always been in the past.
PNP Director General General Debold Sinas said: “I don’t think it’s a major reshuffle. Kung ano pong bakante, kasi madami nang mag-retire, ‘yun po fill-up natin. Kumbaga, kung umangat ang isa, marami po talagang maaapektuhan kasi mag-akyatan po lahat,” Sinas said.
“I don’t think I will effect change dahil lang di ko sila kursunada. Tandaan niyo ang sinabi ko kanina, ako po ay chief PNP ng lahat,” he added.
In his speech marking day one of being the country’s top cop, Sinas also urged police personnel to always remember their duty of upholding and enforcing the law.
He also promised that the 218,000-strong PNP would focus on sustaining and enhancing the Duterte administration’s efforts of eradicating illegal drugs, corruption, terrorism, illegal gambling and other criminalities.
He also said he would continue the effective programs and approaches to these problems of his predecessors that already brought positive outcomes and good feedback from communities.
A member of Philippine Military Academy “Hinirang” Class of 1987, Sinas will reach the mandatory retirement age of 56 in May next year.
