NCRPO chief goes on leave, cites medical reasons

A PUBLIC outrage over “mañanita” failed to compel National Capital Police chief Debold Sinas to step down but recent developments over his health condition seemed to have forced the controversial general to take a leave.

With Sinas at the sideline “for a medical check-up,” his deputy Nolasco Bathan takes over the post as Metro Manila’s top cop.

In an August 19 announcement, Sinas has reportedly gone on medical leave.

The medical leave supposed covers five days starting tomorrow, August 20 until the 24th. However, the announcement hinted at a clause, which states “or until he returns to work.”

Pressed for details, the NCRPO chief declined to elaborate on what the check-up was for.

Sinas is one of the three top contenders to replace retiring PNP chief Archie Gamboa, even after his name was dragged into the controversial birthday bash he had inside the Camp Bagong Diwa last May when the country strictly prohibits public gatherings.
