Muslim group mobilized to screen visitors

By Mar T. Supnad

MARIVELES, Bataan – In an apparent effort to rid their race of a bad stigma dragging them to notoriety, a Muslim group based in this city shunned violence while pushing for a lasting peace and development.

In a meeting with Mayor Jocelyn Castańeda’s alter ego Angel Peliglorio Jr, leaders of a town-based Muslim transient group made a pledge of support to the local government’s program seen to protect their race from any form of discrimination. Peliglorio is the administrator of the Mariveles LGU.

The Muslim group, which now forms part of Barangay Camaya, also promised to abide by whatever is required to prevent further spread of the global pandemic in their community.

The group made assurance on their full cooperation with the local police in the campaign against illegal drugs by strictly implementing measures that would see community volunteers screen each and every person entering their barangay.

As what agreed upon during the meeting, the Muslim group further agreed among themselves to organize in one group, assuring that they themselves will address any emerging problems, if any, among their ranks.

“Hangad namin ay kapayapaan, ayaw naming mapasukan kami ng masasamang tao para maiwasan ang nangyari sa Marawi noon,” the group told Peloglorio.

The group wanted that any person who wants to secure clearance from the police should be given first by the association as they know the personality better of every individual in the area.

Peliglorio lauded the Muslim group for their unity and support for a peaceful and progressive Mariveles.
