THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is shutting down U-turn slots along the perennially congested EDSA in an apparent effort to improve in traffic flow.
After putting up concrete barriers and metal bollards, along the thoroughfare, MMDA announced the sealing of 13 U-turn slots to make way for the dedicated bus lanes.
In a television interview, MMDA spokesperson Celine Pialago said that among the U-tgurn slots they would shut down are those found in Pasay, Makati, Caloocan and City.
Pasay City
Closed U-turn slots
• P. Celle U-turn slots
• U-turn slot before Roxas Boulevard (near Heritage Hotel)
Alternate routes for EDSA Pasay U-turn slots:
• Southbound vehicles coming from FB Harrison should take Magallanes flyover U-turn slot
• Northbound vehicles should take signalized intersection or SM Mall of Asia Circle
Makati City
Affected U-turn slots:
• Buendia U-turn slot (under Kalayaan flyover)
Alternate routes for EDSA Makati City U-turn slots:
Northbound vehicles coming from Guadalupe must make a U-turn via EDSA-Ayala Avenue service road or intersection
Quezon City
Affected U-turn slots:
• Balintawak Market U-turn slot (in front of BPI)
• Kaingin Road U-turn slot (in front of Nissan)
• Congressional LRT station U-turn slot (in front of Panorama Technocenter)
• Corregidor intersection and Bansalangin U-turn slots
• U-turn slot in front of Quezon City Academy
• North Avenue U-turn slot (before MRT-North Avenue)
• Santolan/Boni Serrano U-turn slot (in front of Camp Crame)
Alternate routes for EDSA Quezon City U-turn slots:
• Southbound vehicles must take a U-turn at Balintawak Cloverleaf
• Northbound vehicles to take a U-turn at Quezon Avenue
• All vehicles coming from White Plains should use the service road/intersection under the Santolan flyover to make a U-turn (for Santolan/Boni Serrano U-turn slot)
Caloocan City
Affected U-turn slots:
• General Tinio U-turn slot
• de Jesus Street/8th street left turn
• General Malvar U-turn slot
Alternate routes for EDSA Caloocan City U-turn slots:
• Southbound vehicles should make a turn at Monumento Circle
• Northbound vehicles to take a turn at Balintawak Cloverleaf
• Vehicles coming in from the North Luzon Expressway taking a left at A. de Jesus/8th street should go straight or take A. Bonifacio Avenue and turn right onto C3/Sgt. Rivera
