LTFRB to review resumption of provincial buses

THE agony of going to and from the provinces would soon be over as the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) hinted at polishing guidelines on the resumption of provincial bus operations.

“Inaayos na po ng LTFRB ‘yan and I think baka po within the week ay maglabas na po ang LTFRB po ng kanilang guidelines para diyan po,” Transportation Undersecretary Artemio Tuazon Jr. said at the Laging Handa briefing.

The DOTr earlier said the resumption of public transportation would be done in phases amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

So far, the government allowed the operation of trains, jeepneys, taxis, transport network vehicle services, UV express units, tricycles, shuttle services, point-to-point buses, and augmentation buses in the National Capital Region (NCR) though on a limited capacity.

The LTFRB recently allowed the deployment of additional 1,159 traditional public utility jeepneys to ply 28 routes in NCR beginning on Monday.
