KaladKaren, known for her impersonations of ABS-CBN broadcaster Karen Davila, is engaged to British boyfriend of eight years, Luke Wrightson.
“We are engaged. Yehey!” said KaladKaren (Jervi Li in real life) and Wrightson as they hugged and kissed after the official announcement on Facebook page September 9.
Luke said that he has been hiding the engagement ring in the cleaning supplies area of the condominium unit all the time. He said that the engagement has the blessings of his parents. Luke bought the engagement ring abroad.
Jervi, a transgender woman, said that she was surprised Luke was cleaning the balcony when she woke up. “Sabi ko ano kayang meron at nililinis niya ang balcony. Nakapambahay lang ako.”
Then Luke showed her the ring. “What’s that?” asked Jervi. Luke said: “I don’t know. Do they fit? Are you gonna say yes?” Jervi replied: “Yes, of course?” Then they embraced and kissed.
“I was really shocked. I am not good at surprises,” she said.
Jervi showed the ring to some Kapamilya celebrities.
“No way,” reacted TV host Karla Estrada, as she and Jervi screamed for joy.
Broadcaster Karen Davila, appearing on Zoom, said: “When are you getting married? Ang haba ng buhok mo dear.”
“Ayyy…how nice! How nice…how nice….congratulations! It’s a proposal in the time of COVID-19. Ang ganda,” said television host Boy Abunda.
Jervi said: “Sa love minsan kailangan mo lang maniwala. Akala ko noong bata ako, wala ng magmamahal sa akin dahil bakla ako, transgder ako. Naiiba raw ako. Pero noong makilala ko sya, (2012) my own Prince Charming, nagbago ang lahat. Naging masaya. Naging tutoo. Nakakatakot magmahal. Nakakatakot masaktan. Nakakatakot iwanan. Pero sabi nga nila, minsan kailangan mo lang maniwala.”
