CAMP TOLENTINO, Bataan – A number of drug pushers who have surrendered to authorities are returning to their illicit trade in the province.
This was learned by local newsmen from police authorities during a media briefing this morning inside Camp Tolentino, PNP provincial headquarters.
“Some are returning to their illegal drug trades, but some are not after they were subjected to rehabilitation to various Bahay Silangan,” said Major Joey Sampaga, chief of police of Orani town.
Major Sampaga also cited his big accomplishment when they arrested a notorious man charged with 21 counts of rape, making him the top most wanted in the town.
Newly-designated Samal local police chief Capt Gary Lupian, likewise hinted on the return of the illicit dope trade but claimed to have promptly addressed it through the help of Samal Mayor Aida Macalinao and barangay captains, all of whom significantly contributed in the campaign against illegal drugs and criminalities. “Without their support, we will not succeed.”
For Limay police chief Major Randy P. Apolonio, local drug trade has been contained in their jurisdiction under a joint effort with Mayor Nelson David and Vice Mayor Richie David. “Supportive sina mayor Nelson at Vice mayor Richie sa amin. Pati vitamins bininigyan kami,” said Apolonio.
In Hermosa town, local police chief Major Jeffrey Onde, hinted at effectively containing illicit drug trade and other criminal activities. Onde also said that local government support to their campaign proved crucial. He attributed the positive result of their drive against illegal drugs to the support they’ve been getting from Mayor Jopet Inton.
Bataan earned the distinction of being the first drug-free province in Central Luzon.
