THE Department of Education central office, which has been operating on a lean skeletal force, has declared a five-day holiday starting today, August 19, to give way for disinfection of the entire complex and contact tracing.

In a press statement, DepEd said that their central office in Pasig City will resume operations on Monday, August 23.

According to the statement furnished to reporters, Education Secretary Leonor Briones ordered the temporary closure to ensure the health and safety of the department’s skeleton workforce.

For the meantime, DepEd hinted on an unhampered delivery of services with its personnel already directed to work-from-home.

“Financial obligations, salaries and benefits of all DepEd teaching and non-teaching personnel are already being processed, and shall be promptly paid,” the DepEd said.

“Virtual productivity tools will be consistently utilized for official and work-related matters,” it added.
