A GRAND wedding in the middle of a deadly pandemic in the place where the President lives certainly caught its local officials flatfooted, compelling Davao City Mayor Sarah Duterte-Carpio to issue a directive calling for an investigation in the incident.
Duterte-Carpio, who has expressed grave disappointment over the grand wedding ceremony held in the city by a prominent family in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, immediately ordered an extensive contact tracing among people in attendance, including organizers and suppliers.
The city chief executive however did not elaborate exactly whose wedding it was. Among those in attendance were reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.
“Kinausap na ang organizer na, ‘Look, what you are planning is really, ah, yung delikado yes, risky because it can possibly be a source of spread sa infection sa COVID-19,” Duterte-Carpio said.
Duterte-Carpio has also ordered an investigation on the possible violation to health protocols during the wedding. The investigation would include looking at pictures of the event to see if social distancing and wearing of face mask were observed.
“I-remind lang natin lahat na every time you violate health protocols, you kill another person,” said Duterte-Carpio, daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte.
