HALL OF JUSTICE, Bataan – The Regional Trial Court of Bataan has approved the re accreditation of Bataan Peninsula Times to publish legal, judicial and other related notices in Bataan.
In her order dated August 28, 2020, Executive Judge Marion Jacqueline P. Poblete gave Bataan Peninsula Times, a local weekly newspaper that has been existing legally for 28 years, the go-signal to “participate in the raffle of publication of legal and judicial notices and similar announcements within the jurisdiction” of the said court.
One of the pioneers local weekly newspaper in the region, Bataan Peninsula Times is edited by its publisher Mario ‘Mar’ T. Supnad, a seasoned journalist and public relations executive.
Under the law, accredited local newspapers are only authorized legally to publish legal, judicial and similar announcements.
Some local newspapers are, however, illegally publishing said notices which is contrary to law.
Before a local newpaper is accredited to publish such legal notices, it should publish at least 52 consecutive weekly issues, widely circulated and permitted by the local government unit, Department of Trade and Industry, and not reproducing news stories.
But before the court approved the re accreditation of Bataan Peninsula Times, its publisher Mar Supnad was ‘grilled’ and interrogated thoroughly about journalism activities and publishing by Judge Poblete until the court was satisfied by the publisher’s answers and statements under oath.
“Wherefore, premises considered, Bataan Peninsula Times is hereby reaccredited to participate in the raffle of publication of legal and judicial notices and similar announcements…” said Executive Judge Poblete in her order.
