IT took 11 long years for police to catch up on one of the many suspects behind the carnage of 57 individuals, including 31 journalists, in Maguindanao.
The 45-year old Nasser Adam y Mangalen, also known as Umar Kasim y Bansuan, was arrested by authorities on Friday for murder of Quezon City regional trial court Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes, in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental where he works as security guard.
Arresting authorities said the suspect was among Andal “Datu Unsay” Ampatuan Jr.’s henchmen who were involved in the Maguindanao massacre on November 23, 2009. Ampatuan Jr., and his relatives former Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao governor Zaldy Ampatuan, Anwar Ampatuan Sr., Anwar “Ipi” Ampatuan Jr., and Anwar Sajid “Ulo” Ampatuan were among those convicted in December 2019 for 57 counts of murder.
No bail was recommended, based on the warrant. He is now under police custody for proper disposition before being turned over to the court concerned.
