EXACTLY a month after a gang war that saw nine inmates killed and scores injured comes another “free for all scuffle” at the New Bilibid Prison Monday morning.
In a statement, the Bureau of Corrections said the incident started at around 8:40 a.m. at the maximum security compound.
As of this posting the BuCor has yet to identify the groups involved in the new riot, neither did the bureau make any statement as to what caused it – not even a hint on who were killed [if any] of injured.
Interestingly, BuCor Director General Gerald Bantag claims to be “on top of the situation” and is giving instructions to the response team, the PIO said. BuCor personnel at the national headquarters were evacuated.
“Investigation will be conducted to identify the cause of the incident. Disciplinary measures will be imposed to those who are responsible,” it said.
Exactly a month ago, a riot between the Sputnik and Commando gang members led to the death of nine inmates. Prison authorities seized more than 400 hidden bladed and blunt weapons in two Bilibid buildings days later.
