Metro mayors hint at NCR shift to MGCQ in November

By Fernan Angeles

METRO Manila mayors appear confident that they would be able to institute local protocols in November, when contamination in the National Capital Region would have been flattened.

Metro Manila Council chairperson Edwin Olivares said that only then would Metro Manila be able to shift to modified general community quarantine (MGCQ), the least restrictive in the government’s four-tier quarantine classification system.

The region is currently under general community quarantine (GCQ).

Olivarez said Metro Manila mayors would also study the easing of curfews.

The University of the Philippines OCTA research team said last week that the rate of transmission, number of cases, positivity rate, and hospital resource utilization are all on a downward trend in the National Capital Region (NCR).
