MARIVELES, Bataan – First barangay Kagawad Florante ‘Dante’ Malimban assumed today as the new barangay captain of the richest barangay of Alas asin, following the demise of Captain Roberto M. Arcenal, Sr.
The new barangay captain took his oath of office before Mayor Jocelyn P. Castańeda in a webinar that was watched live through the social media by a lot of people.
Pursuant to the Local government code of the Philippines 1991, Section 44, the highest number of votes from the members of the kagawad will automatically assume as barangay captain in case of death or permanent incapacity of the latter.
During the oath taking ceremony, Malimban,54, pledges to faithfully assume the position to the best of his ability and obey the laws and all legal orders.
Dubbed by local newsmen as friendly and approachable, Captain Malimban pledged to work for the interest of his constituents and the barangay itself.
Alas asin is host to the giant GN power plant, which contributes millions of pesos to the barangay coffers in terms of taxes; Maritime Academy of the Asia and the Pacific (MAAP), international ports, among others.
