FOR several weeks, the southern part of the archipelago was seen shaking on a regular weekly interval.
Today, August 13, the northernmost tip of the country experienced shuddering of the ground as a magnitude 5.5 earthquake hit Sabtang in Batanes province at 6:32 a.m., according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
Nobody was hurt as local government units likewise reported no damages to properties.
In a bulletin, PHIVOLCS said the epicenter of the tectonic earthquake was located at 20.31°N, 121.40°E to 049 km S 86° W of Sabtang.
The depth of focus was measured at 14 kilometers, it added.
PHIVOLCs issued a public advisory on the possibility of aftershocks.
