82% of Pinoys feel life getting worse

By John Clifford Lintao

FOR 82 percent of the Filipinos, life seemed getting worse.

In a recent survey administered by the Social Weather Station, four out of five Filipinos believe their quality of life worsened as compared to last year.

The same survey had 6 percent saying that life got better, while 11 percent believe quality of life was the same from a year ago.

“The resulting Net Gainers score in September 2020 is -76 (percent Gainers minus percent Losers) which is considered by SWS as catastrophic (-50 and below),” the SWS said.

“Losers,” according to SWS, refers to those believe the quality of life got worse from a year ago while “gainers” refers to those believe it was better.

The survey was conducted from September 17 to 20.

The SWS poll was a probability-based survey conducted using mobile phone and computer-assisted telephone interviewing of 1,249 adult Filipinos aged 18 years old and above nationwide.

Of this number, 309 in Metro Manila, 328 in Balance Luzon, 300 in the Visayas, and 312 in Mindanao.

The sampling error margin is ±3 percent for national percentages, ±6 percent for Metro Manila, ±5 percent for Balance Luzon, ±6 percent for the Visayas, and ±6 percent for Mindanao.
