WHAT used to be an hour trip for a five-kilometer drive via the heavily congested EDSA or C5 would soon be reduced to just 12 minutes as soon as this P1.6 billion BGC-Ortigas Link is completed.
In a post on digital platform, Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar posted a photo showing two ends of the BGC Ortigas Link Bridge have finally connected midway over the Pasig River.
Started in 2017, the construction of the 961-meter bridge is almost completed but won’t be operational yet – not until next year, said the DPWH.

Pegged at P1.6 billion, the project is seen to significantly reduce traffic and travel time to and from Bonifacio Global City and Ortigas, as the new infrastructure would become an alternative to EDSA and C5.
The Taguig end of the bridge connects to 8th Avenue in Uptown Bonifacio while the Pasig side of the bridge connects to Bo. Kapitolyo.
